We are looking for a Laboratory Manager who will be responsible for managing our Steep Slope Claims Lab.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

      Manage Steep Slope Claims Lab consisting of 1 Lab Supervisor and 2 Lab Technicians.

      Unified Claims Process Team – Represent Operations as an active member of the team. Coordinate Operations evaluation and input to the team. Facilitate communication of the Claims Process back to the Operations Team. Continue development and execution of the training and transition plan.

      Claims Lab Technicians and Field Site Inspector training – Facilitate training with Plant Quality personnel to ensure that the due-diligence of New material claim evaluation is built into the process (especially color / appearance claims).

      Manage Steep Slope Claims Analysis and Reporting for both New Material and Warranty Claims: Provides leadership to assure sustainable improvements are implemented to eliminate or reduce New Material and Warranty Claim cost, and assists in setting annual improvement targets.

      Manage communication and coordination between Warranty Services Department and Steep Slope Manufacturing Plants regarding claims evaluation.

      Coordinate with Field TM’s and plants to provide a rapid response to field issues. Monitor Quality Hotline and work with plants to take immediate action to contain the situation and take corrective action to prevent a recurrence.

      Quality Roundtable conference calls with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to review field issues and plant actions to resolve.

--    Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably in engineering or chemistry. A minimum of five years industrial manufacturing experience, including at least two years in a management function. Experience managing a physical properties test lab operation including development of lab test protocols, familiarity with laboratory integrated management systems (LIMS), and equipment calibration procedures. Experience handling customer complaints/claims, including claims data analysis to identify corrective action priorities. Facilitation of cross-functional problem solving teams with proven results. Knowledge of roofing installation requirements. Excellent interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of ASTM and Regulatory Standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience with laboratory start-up, and design & application of new quality systems. Previous experience in roofing manufacturing or other continuous web manufacturing is preferred.

The candidate must possess strong leadership skills and a history of delivering results.  Experience applying Kepner-Tregoe ATS or equivalent root cause analysis is a plus. CQE or CQA certification or training toward certification is a plus.
